The Morin Walk in La Spezia, dedicated to Costantino Morin, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and well-known in all of Liguria.
The urban arrangement of the coastal area began in the early nineteenth century with the planting of trees. It was built using the earth from the excavations of the basins and docks of the Arsenal. The rubble from the bombings of the last world conflict was also used.
Following a significant redevelopment in 2004, the Morin walk today is an extensive pedestrian area bordered by splendid gardens and flanked by beautiful plants, such as palms, pines, and oleanders. From here, the main boats leave to visit the wonderful Cinque Terre, Lerici, Portovenere, and more. The new tourist pier “Mirabello” is also located nearby.
Walking along the Morin walk in its entirety, one can admire a unique panorama: the Gulf of La Spezia surrounded by the Apuan Alps, which tower to the east, and the hills on the western side.
It is undoubtedly one of the most loved and frequented places of the people of La Spezia, as well as one of the main symbols of the city. A stone’s throw from the historic center and with a sea view, it is the perfect destination to spend the beautiful sunny winter days, or to cool off in the shade of its palms that border it on the sides.
Staying at the Down Town Blue Apartment, you will have the opportunity to reach it in a few minutes on foot and enjoy all its beauty.
