The Seal Museum, located on the historic Via del Prione in La Spezia, boasts the largest collection of seals ever assembled. With over 1,500 original seals from various eras, ranging from the 4th millennium BC to the present day, the collection aims to showcase the development of seal impressions throughout the history of civilization.

From numerous artifacts originating in Mesopotamia, where these instruments first appeared, visitors can admire Egyptian amulet molds made of stone or ceramic, Roman seal rings, and medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical, and Art Nouveau examples. There are also specimens from Pre-Columbian America, China, Japan, and Islamic-influenced regions. A special section is dedicated to “Lalique” and “Fabergé” artifacts.

The collection, the result of thirty years of research and collaboration with leading experts in the field, was donated by Lilian and Euro Capellini to the Municipality of La Spezia and set up as a museum in 2000.
